Oscar De La Hoya versus David Tetreault
At the Home of Golf, two competitors bring a fighter's focus to match play on the Castle Course. The arena changes. The competitive standard does not.
#ABT · Mind · Body · Soul
Always Be Training is not a slogan, a program or a season. It is the way I choose to live. I train my mind, body and soul because every part of life demands preparation.
I started training at 13. The lesson outlasted any workout. You do not wait for confidence. You earn it. You keep your word to yourself, tell yourself the truth and return to the work.

Inside the gym with Canelo Alvarez. Preparation is the work nobody sees and the standard everyone sees on fight night.
I do not wait to feel ready. I make the decision to show up, especially when the feeling is not there.
Discipline is believing in yourself enough to demand more from yourself. It is checking yourself before someone else has to. It is keeping the promises you make in private and creating the will to win the day in front of you.
Winning the day is not always public. Sometimes it is the hard conversation, the recovery session, the extra hour of study or being fully present with your family. The scoreboard changes. The standard does not.
All three have to train. A sharp mind without health cannot carry the load. A strong body without purpose loses direction. Ambition without character is not winning.
Stay a student. Study the craft, the business and the people. Ask better questions. Make clear decisions under pressure. Teach what experience has proven, then keep learning.
Build the capacity to perform and recover. Boxing, strength, golf and repetition are not punishment. They prepare the body to carry the ambition.
Stay rooted in purpose, character and family. The discipline that makes you stronger at work should make you more present at home and more useful to others.
Ali did more than prepare for competition. His standard carried into courage, conviction and legacy. I do not look at him for a slogan. I look at what the work made possible.
Ali's greatness did not stop at the ropes. He carried courage and conviction into the world. The lesson is that a platform should stand for something.
Greatness is not one performance. It is what you repeatedly demand of yourself and what your discipline makes possible for others.
The classroom is another training ground for me. I bring decades of experience into the room, but the point is not to tell old stories. It is to test what I know, sharpen it and give students something they can use.
